Associate safety is our top priority. Providing a safe workplace is not only the right thing to do, it’s essential to maintaining our high-performance culture, attracting new talent and outperforming our markets.
We are committed to continually evaluating our safety practices and systems so that associates can safely come to work and leave each day. Our Employee Safety & Environmental Stewardship Principles set standards for how we maintain a safe work environment and guides our business operations.
While we are proud of our safety performance and have achieved many milestones over the years, we are staying focused on this critical part of our business. As Fortune Brands Innovations continues to evolve, we are reimagining safety and looking at how we can make incremental improvements to reach the next level of strong safety performance.
We are also committed to ensuring that newly acquired locations are safe and productive parts of our Company by making immediate investments into their safety practices. In fact, one of our most powerful acquisition synergies is that we make acquired companies safer through immediate assessment and investment in sustainable safety systems and establishment of safe work practices. Our EH&S and operations leaders create improvement plans for acquired businesses to implement in the first 90 days. Two of our largest acquisitions, Fiberon and Larson, are great examples.
- Fiberon, acquired in 2018, has significantly improved its Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), thanks to facility and technology improvements, like added fall protection and implementing better fire prevention controls.
- Larson, acquired in 2020, has also significantly improved on safety performance. Some of the investments we’ve helped usher in include added automation and tools, improved personal protective equipment, and additional physical safeguards.
